Protecting your boat over winter

A little care in the fall saves a lot of work in the spring. Focus on getting the boat clean and dry, covered, and its batteries maintained.

01

Clean before you cover

Dirt and moisture trapped under a cover over winter lead to stains and mildew. Wash the hull, treat vinyl and let everything dry fully first.

02

Choose a cover that fits

A cover sized to your boat's length and hull type sheds snow and water instead of pooling it. Secure it snugly so it doesn't chafe in the wind.

03

Keep batteries charged

Fully charge batteries before storage and top them up periodically, or leave an on-board charger connected if it supports maintenance mode.
