Terms of sale.

Last updated [Month day, 2026]

These terms apply when you use this store or buy from [Legal business name], operating as BoatBetter. Placing an order means you accept them. Nothing here limits the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province.

Who you’re buying from

[Legal business name], [Street address], [City, Province Postal code], Canada. Email [support@boatbetter.co] or call [Phone number]. GST/HST registration number: [GST/HST registration number].

Where we sell

We currently ship to addresses in Canada only. We can’t accept orders shipping to other countries.

Prices and taxes

  • Prices are in Canadian dollars.
  • Sales tax is added at checkout based on your shipping province: GST, HST, or GST plus provincial sales tax where we’re registered to collect it.
  • Shipping costs and taxes are shown before you pay. The total on the final checkout screen is what you’ll be charged.
  • If a product is listed at the wrong price because of an obvious error, we’ll contact you before shipping. You can pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

Placing an order

After you order, we email a confirmation with your order details. That email confirms we’ve received your order. Your card is authorized when you order and charged when your order is accepted for shipping.

Our stock levels come from our distributor and can change quickly. If an item turns out to be unavailable, we’ll tell you and you can wait, choose an alternative, or cancel that item. You won’t be charged for anything we can’t supply.

You can cancel an order for a full refund any time before it ships by emailing [support@boatbetter.co].

Shipping, returns and refunds

How we ship and how long it takes is set out in our shipping policy. Returns, exchanges and refunds are covered in our returns and refunds policy.

Product information and spec checks

Product descriptions, photos and specifications come from manufacturers and our distributor. We work to keep them accurate, but packaging and colours can vary.

When you add your boat, we compare the voltage and outboard horsepower ratings a product lists with the details you entered. That check only covers those ratings. Sizing, such as a trolling motor’s shaft length, depends on your boat, so measure before you order, and have parts like electrical systems and steering installed by a qualified marine technician if you’re unsure.

The shop assistant

Search and the shop assistant use artificial intelligence to suggest products and answer questions. Answers can be wrong, so check the product page before you buy. The assistant gives general guidance, not professional advice. For required safety equipment, confirm the rules for your boat with Transport Canada.

Warranty

Products are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty. If something fails, contact us and we’ll help you make a claim. This doesn’t affect the warranties your province’s law gives you, such as products being fit for their purpose and of acceptable quality.

Regulated and dangerous goods

Some products, such as lithium batteries and marine flares, are regulated for transport. They ship by ground only and may take longer to arrive. You’re responsible for storing and using them as the manufacturer directs.

Your account

Keep your password private. You’re responsible for orders placed through your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.

Using the store

Don’t misuse the store: no automated scraping or bulk requests to search or the assistant, and no attempts to break its security. We can suspend accounts or block access that puts the store or other shoppers at risk.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost fishing days or lost profits, and our total responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for it. This doesn’t limit our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, including under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Province] and of Canada. If you live in another province, you keep the protection of your own province’s consumer laws.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in effect when you place an order applies to that order.
